Fine Art Photographer & Visual Artist at Yas Crawford Photography

About

I am a Fine Art Photographer, Visual Artist and multidisciplinary collaborator who has exhibited internationally. In 2024 I received an Honorary Fellowship for the Royal Photographic Society and I am a former Fellow of the Geological Society. I was born in Pembrokeshire, Wales where the landscape and biological make-up have subliminally influenced her work. With a degree in Geology and a master’s in Photography, I have worked in various business roles, as an entrepreneur in life sciences, and now working in what I calls ‘The Grey Space’ between disciplines. My research touches on mapping evolutionary change and reflects the impact it has on mankind.

I am an advocate of art in science and look for multidisciplinary collaborations that connect the two. I use photography, illustration, video and camera-less techniques. Examples of my work include: creating front covers for research included in medical journals, images and support for web design, imagery for scientific research.

Yas provided me with a better insight into how my work is perceived and I find it intriguing to see her interpretation of the science in the form of visual art_Dr R. Broersen, Australia National University, Neuron Signalling Group
Yas is a great artist who really understood the concept of my research. We were able to work together to produce some fantastic abstract photographs which were able to demonstrate experiments I perform in the laboratory. I would be very happy to work with her again in the future_Dr. Katharine Seton, Quadram Institute of Biosciences, Norwich.
