Creative Cardiff's 'Show & Tell' is a quarterly event that gives a platform to the exciting range of creative people and projects in the city. It brings together Cardiff’s creative community, from emerging talent to old hands, to hear about their current projects and ambitions.
Each of the speakers will give a 10-minute lightning talk. And they'll bring an object. The object might be the source of their inspiration, a tool of their trade or a comfort blanket. The speakers will share their work and explain the importance of the object they've brought along.
This event will be delivered in Welsh with simultaneous English language translation facilities available.
Speakers:
Osian founded SSP Media in 2012 during his studies at Bangor University. Graduating with an undergraduate and a Masters degree in filmmaking, he went on to gain experience on various network and international film projects. Osian won a BAFTA Cymru in 2013 while still studying at university, and in 2015 he went on to become a BAFTA Cymru judge.
Opportunities meant that the last two years have been spent travelling back and forth from New York City, setting up networks, collaborating with industry professionals and most recently, filming with actor Matthew Rhys. Closer to home, he has just finished directing the eight part S4C series Pobol y Rhondda after a successful first series back in 2016.
SSP Media is an award winning independent production company based in South Wales providing a start to finish production service to their clients; from developing a brief through to filming, editing, graphics and all the way up to final delivery. As well as their full service, they can also provide crewing, kit and aerial filming for broadcast and commercial work. Most recent productions include crew for BBC3's hit show Hayley Investigates and BBC Wales' Rhod Gilberts Work Experience.
Angharad Lee was born and bred in Porth in the Rhondda Valley. She has been working as a director of theatre, opera and film since 2009 and is also studying for an MA i
n Arts Management at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
Prior to this, she trained as an actress at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and as a singer at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
When not directing, her time is spent devising and managing Creative Learning Projects for the Arts Council of Wales. She speaks both Welsh and English fluently.
Angharad is also the Voice and Shakespeare Coach for the BA Performance course at Trinity St David’s and a guest lecturer specialising in new writing at the University of South Wales and Y Coleg Cymraeg.
Manon Edwards AhirManon has spent most of her professional life working in the media and communication sector in the Welsh capital as a senior journalist, television series producer, and professional communicator.
After 17 years in various roles in Cardiff and London, Manon left the BBC to establish a bilingual communications agency, Mela with her husband Ashok Ahir. Working with a wide range of clients and well-known brands across Wales and beyond, she and the team helps them convey their stories in new and creative ways across all existing and emerging media channels.
She has extensive experience in media relations having delivered PR campaigns for clients such as FAW, BAFTA Cymru, HealthWise Wales, Literature Wales, Menter Caerdydd, Care Council for Wales, Corgi, Boom Cymru, Rondo and Bait. As an experienced editor in both Welsh and English, she has overseen Mela's content creation for the Welsh Government's Education and Skills and Welsh Language teams as well as FAW’s successful Euro 2016 campaign. Manon also lectures in Journalism and Communications at Cardiff University's School of Journalism, Media & Cultural Studies.
Manon and the Mela team are based at Yr Hen Lyfrgell and have been involved in the Welsh language centre from its inception. She is also a Board member for the new Cardiff Dance Festival. When not working, Manon can be seen mostly in Canton and Pontcanna trying to avoid the keen runners while she gently jogs to get a cappuccino or two from any one of the park cafes with her three children.
