VRSW is a meet-up for the immersive technology cluster in South Wales hosted by Creative Cardiff, in partnership with Orchard Media and Events Group Ltd.
The meet-up brings together those working in virtual reality, augmented reality and binaural recording to share knowledge, network and hear from Rob Eagle, XR experience designer and PhD researcher at UWE Bristol.
Based at the Bristol VR Lab, Rob Eagle’s practice-led PhD research uses interactive and immersive technology in representing non-fiction genderqueer narratives.
His work examines the convergence of non-fiction storytelling, immersive theatre and interactive art installation.
His current mixed reality installation, Through the Wardrobe, combines physical objects and clothing with imagery and spatial audio in HoloLens to create an experience for users to explore stories of genderqueer identities.
There is also the opportunity for practitioners and academics to break out into more focused sessions for discussion.
This edition of VRSW is part of BBC's Digital Cities Cardiff 2019.
