The Stage Management department is currently seeking a Senior Deputy Stage Manager to support and cover a period of Maternity leave for 12 Months. The successful candidate will work closely with all members of the company and will have a full overview of the company’s activities to liaise with all departments. The Senior Deputy Stage Manager will show call at least one production and assist on others in the repertoire.

What will be required of you?

  • To staff designated productions, from inception, through the rehearsal period & performances and to maintain a high standard of performance after the opening from a technical standpoint.
  • To rehearse & run new productions & some revivals.
  • To consistently produce a Prompt Copy, up to date paperwork, daily rehearsal notes and production meeting minutes.
  • To attend Sitzproben [where possible] for the sole purpose of timing the production.
  • To mentor junior members of the team within the scope of the work.
  • To assist in the preparation of photocopied scores, prop plots, crew plots, running lists or any other documentation for production hiring, or co-productions.
  • To prepare rehearsal rooms.

What you will need to have?

  • Working knowledge of theatre practice and backstage environment.
  • Proven, professional experience in a related role.
  • Ability to confidently score read.
  • Strong interest in the arts & music & its practitioners.
  • Good management skills, organisation & an ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to prioritise, make decisions and act with authority when appropriate.
  • Ability to work under pressure calmly and efficiently.
  • Ability to mentor and assist junior members of the department.
  • Excellent standard of IT literacy (Microsoft Office packages – e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate at all levels, especially with Technical Departments and Creative Teams.
  • Ability to work unsocial hours, including weekends, & for some of the year be on tour.
  • Ability to travel independently throughout the UK and abroad.
