An example of work from Hope Solutions

With summer in full swing, festivals, gigs and cultural events are popping up across the city. But with temporary infrastructure, crowds, tech, and waste - how do we reduce the environmental impact of our live creative events? And how do we adopt and promote a sustainable culture within creative work?

On Wednesday 23 July, Creative Cardiff is partnering with Media Cymru on two events focused on low-carbon, environmentally friendly approaches to working in the creative sector (How to be a Greenlancer) and managing cultural events (Creative Cuppa).

Media Cymru Producer, Greg Mothersdale, who is helping organise the day, says:

This day is a fantastic opportunity to enhance the sustainable culture within the creative sector in South Wales. It will provide environmentally focussed knowledge and support for freelancers and SMEs, it addresses 2 of the key takeaways from the Screen New Deal Transformation plan: Wales which is a recognised industry plan we are implementing in Wales: Training, collaboration and culture.

I’m delighted to see Picture Zero and Hope Solutions will be here to share their highly regarded expertise and insights.

In the morning: How to be a Greenlancer

If you are a freelancer working in the creative industries and interested in making some savings to your pocket as well as the planet, join us in person for our free interactive session at 10:00 on Wednesday 23 July.

While eco-anxiety continues to evolve along with the effects of climate change, it’s never been a more important time for creative freelancers (self-employed or PAYE) to adopt and incorporate sustainable practices in their everyday lives.

Delivered by Picture Zero, ‘How to be a Greenlancer’ is an engaging, straightforward guide on how you can be more environmentally focussed and finance-savvy on a very personal level.

The workshop offers practical advice on how freelancers can be more environmentally focused and cost-efficient across:

  • Working from home
  • Digital/online presence
  • Travel and transport
  • Office spaces

Book your place on 'How to be a Greenlancer'.

In the afternoon: Creative Cuppa with Hope Solutions
