Pigtown Theatre Company are looking to recruit an extraordinary and progressive lead digital developer/artist for their pioneering VR project BeConwy. This is a development collaboration between Pigtown, CADW, Disability Arts Cymru and ShakesVR with grant funding from Arts Council of Wales. BeConwy will explore a revolutionary form of storytelling through the VR Immersive Education platform Engage.
The first space we will explore represents the Unesco World Heritage site, Conwy Castle.
We are looking for a unique individual who can inspire and drive a community lead piece of immersive VR, and someone who can grow with us in collaboration with our partners in the future.
Essential skills for this role include
- High level of experience with Unity essential, or Unreal as a skill transfer. Understanding of the requirements and technical limitations of creating artwork that will work within game engines.
- 3D Modelling skills, and ability to work in and export .fbx
- Understanding of optimising art assets for games, Poly count, Draw calls, texture atlases, retopology etc.
- Awareness of the performance specs of our target platform. E.g. we want people to access this content on all platforms, including Android phones. So you must be able to make artwork appropriate to run on that hardware.
- Ability to skill share and mentor a colleague to assist the development of the project.
- Experience in using Oculus and Vive essential.
Our workforce represents all sections of society, and we actively welcome candidates who are currently underrepresented in the arts. We are particularly interested in artists who live in Wales or are Welsh.
