Producer, multi-instrumentalist and Audio-Visual Performer; Kayla Painter has carved a solid reputation around the UK for her deep sonic explorations, her otherworldly compositions along with her unique sound palette and production style. Originally hailing from Newport and with a passion for improving access to Music Production and Immersive Arts.

2024 saw her biggest release to date, supported by PRS Foundation (Women Make Music award) her debut album ‘Fractures’ was written about NASA’s mission to Jupiter's Frozen moon, Fractures was released in line with the spacecraft launching from the Kennedy Space Centre. Fractures explores what a journey to Europa might be like, and delves into the deep oceans of the frozen moon in search of signs of life.

Topping the 'Best Electronic Album of 2024' list on Bandcamp, and with regular rotations on 6Music, and having dubbed her own genre of music 'Ambient Owl Core' she is fast becoming recognised as a trailblazer on the experimental electronic scene. Kayla and her project Ambient Owl Core landed a featured chapter in Ben Murphys 'Ears to the Ground', and was subsequently interviewed by Hannah Peel on 6Music discussing her recording techniques and the origins of Ambient Owl Core.

In this masterclass you can expect to gain insight into advanced production techniques, focusing on how to play electronic music live using Ableton.

She will into detail of how a track can be translated from the studio to a live show, and what techniques can be used to make tracks performative, and explore live versions, improvising and using live effects.

\We recommend downloading the free version of Ableton Lite if you are not familiar with it or are working on a different DAW.

If you are a complete beginner we recommend attending one of FACC”s ‘Soft Intro to Music Production” Workshops in Advance.

No equipment is needed for participants as this will be presentation style rather than a workshop.
