Creative Cardiff Classrooms are series of events which allow creatives to dive deeper into a specific theme in small group sessions with an experienced speaker.
Creative Cardiff’s focus for June is branding – diving into the process of building a brand for your business or developing a personal brand as a creative freelancer. This month, we’ll be thinking about audiences, visual assets, content and how to keep your brand relevant, creative and an accurate reflection of you and your work.
To coincide with this theme, we’re delighted to welcome acclaimed Cardiff-based multi-disciplinary artist and graphic designer Mark James to lead our Creative Cardiff Classroom.
Mark James specialises in art direction, graphic design, video direction, identity design and branding, collaborating closely with artists, clients and organisations for over 25 years. His conceptual work is inspired by a mix of popular culture and social commentary and has gained a reputation for being humorous, challenging and controversial.
As former art director for Island Records UK, he has worked with artists such as U2, Queen, The Beatles, Hozier, Jamie Cullum, Amy Winehouse, The Charlatans, DJ Shadow, Stereo MC’s, Avicii, The Fratellis and many more. He has also worked with Super Furry Animals and Gruff Rhys for over 25 years; creating artwork, visuals and videos for the band and their various solo projects.
Mark will be talking through the process of creating a brand, sharing examples and discussing his own creative process. There will also be an opportunity to ask Mark questions in a small-group, informal setting.
Please note, this event is free-to-attend but has a limited number of spaces available. If you can no longer make it, please contact creativecardiff@cardiff.ac.uk so we can release your ticket.
