To mark 10 years of Creative Cardiff in 2025, we are searching for new community voices from a wide range of creative sectors to form part of an action-based Community Forum to share insights, inform and give feedback on Creative Cardiff’s strategy. The newly established Community Forum will aim to extend Creative Cardiff’s mission of building a connected, collaborative, creative sector across the Cardiff Capital Region.
What is the Community Forum?
The Creative Cardiff Community Forum will have 10 members that will be asked to join for a two-year term. Members are required to attend two meetings per year (meetings will last two hours), with a reimbursement fee of £150 (and travel and subsistence if travelling outside of Cardiff) per meeting.
Payment is available for members who are:
- Freelancers
- Work for a micro-sized business
- Students
We encourage in-person participation but recognise that this may not always be possible and can make adjustments to enable as wide a participation as possible.
The Community Forum forms a key component of the Creative Cardiff governance structure. Recommendations from the Forum will be considered by the Creative Cardiff Management Team and the Centre for the Creative Economy Senior Management Team in decision making at both operational and strategic levels.
The Community Forum will be presented with an update on both proposed and confirmed Creative Cardiff activities.
You will be sent an agenda in advance that will be shaped by both the Creative Cardiff Team and by Forum members. The meeting will consist of round table discussions, calls to action and an opportunity to network.
Formal minutes of the meeting will be circulated within 14 days of the meeting commencing.
Who are we looking for?
We are keen to engage with people who are excited about Creative Cardiff’s work but who are also able to help us grow through sharing new ways of working or approaching future opportunities and challenges.
With all our activity, we are keen to reach a wide pool of creatives to ensure we hear the best ideas. We recognise the importance of ensuring our engagement is representative of our wider community in its social and cultural diversity. We also hope to inspire transformative and inclusive lines of research and engagement that will challenge existing ways of thinking.
We would like Community Forum members who can contribute to our thinking, strategy and business planning, ultimately helping to ensure we remain aligned with our core values of sustainable and inclusive ecosystem growth.
You don’t have to have been a part of a forum or board before. We will work with all successful candidates to ensure that they have the necessary support to make a full contribution to the Forum.
We welcome applications from freelancers, those working within community groups and networks, micro-sized businesses, charities as well as people connected to companies and organisations and academic institutions.
Importantly, we hope to bring new perspectives to our projects and processes, which means people with different lived and professional experiences to us and groups who are underrepresented in our sector. We are also looking to represent as many creative industries sectors as possible on our forum, with a focus on increasing engagement with fashion, publishing, architecture, design and visual arts.
How to apply?
To apply, please complete this short, written form which has four questions. We welcome applications in Welsh or English. Alternatively, you can submit answers to those questions in audio or video format. Details on how to do this can be found in the form.
