About

I am primarily a poet and I am passionate about providing space for marginalised voices. As such, I not only write poetry, creative non fiction and memoirs, but I mentor other writers and coach poets for slam teams. I have written for children and one of my books "I'm A Max!" is used by Mermaids, the charity for transgender children. My latest poetry collection "Fear of Drowning" is about my journey to discover my own blackness in the context of slavery, contemporary black identity and inherited trauma.

'Fear of Drowning' is an essentially raw collection that dissects and inspects the finely tuned fury at the intergenerational devastation of slavery. It is an unapologetic scream through the noise, that speaks of an aching mourning. - Kathryn O'Driscoll, UK Slam Champion and World Slam Finalist.

If you have ever met Dee in person you'd know that her personality is just incredible, This collection contains so much of that personality as well as some incredible poetics and storytelling on top of it. Just an all-round good collection of poetry... Tyrone Lewis - Blackish
