Gentle Radical

Date Founded: September 2019

Location: Wyndham Street Centre, Machen Place, Riverside, CF11 6DQ

Emphasis: An accessible co-working space in the heart of the Riverside with a focus on enabling usage for all - which means our competitively-priced fees also help subsidise access for those on low/no incomes, and entirely free access for asylum seekers. Run by Gentle/Radical, the space is informed by an interest in how cultural practice, urbanism, community regeneration, arts programming/activities, and socially engaged creative models can revitalise community, and work towards democratised and equitable spaces for everyone. A space for artists, writers, researchers, cultural workers, creative businesses, campaigners, activists, community practitioners and anyone who resonates with our ethos. There is also a library in the space with books available to co-workers to include publications on everything from black feminist literature, to fiction by working class authors, Welsh language texts, books on Tai Chi, gardening, architecture, media, neoliberalism and everything in between (as well as an extensive collection of art catalogues). Getting involved as a co-worker at the space means working alongside creative organisations developing grassroots practices in the heart of one of the city's most multicultural neighbourhoods.

Events: Ongoing events take place at the space, including a weekly (Monday lunchtime) shared lunch, reading groups, discussion groups and evening and daytime events.
