Our Founders

We asked a select group of organisations to work with us to establish Creative Cardiff. Along with our members, these organisations help us to shape our future plans.

We’re very grateful to them for helping us launch the network for the benefit of the city’s creative economy.

Wales Millennium Centre

Wales Millennium Centre is a leading creative organisation that plays a significant role in the provision and access to arts and creativity in Wales. One of the UK’s top cultural attractions welcoming over 1.5million visitors and ticket holders a year, and home to eight resident partners, this Welsh landmark stages musicals, opera, ballet, circus and contemporary dance alongside the UK’s largest programme of free performances. Aiming to truly become the ffwrnais awen (“furnace of inspiration”) of its world famous inscription, the Centre is committed to working with people of all ages within its diverse community.

The creative economy is vibrant in Wales with the whole country benefits from its success. The Centre alone generated £78,000,000 for the Welsh economy in the year to April 2015. Cardiff is uniquely positioned to become one of Europe’s leading creative capitals and Creative Cardiff brings together a broad range of city partners with a remit to foster closer links, to share ideas and best practice and to be inspired by the huge opportunities open to us. The Centre is delighted to be a founder member of Creative Cardiff.

Cardiff Council

The City Council’s vision is for Cardiff to become Europe’s most liveable capital city – a great place to work, to visit, to study and do business; a place where people love to live; and a city of opportunity for everyone, regardless of background. The evidence from successful cities around the world is overwhelming – talent and investment are attracted to cities that offer a high quality of life as well as a high quality of job opportunity. That’s why the City of Cardiff Council is putting liveability at the centre of our long-term strategy for Cardiff and for the Cardiff Capital Region.

The City of Cardiff Council understands the significant value and contribution of the creative industries and wider creative economy to our city and region. We also see the potential that the creative economy offers for our future in terms of the way that we work, live and promote our city. It is for these reasons that we are delighted to support Creative Cardiff – a network that will support, engage and enable the city’s creative economy now and in the future.
