About
Born in Zimbabwe and a multi-hyphenate artist based in Newport, Wales, Onismo's exploration represents a deeply poetic visual language shaped by life's journeys, rituals, and memories. Our artistry fuses recorded video content, archival footage and found moving imagery with elements like rhythms, spoken word, and movement. Within themes of heritage, culture, and transformative codes. As a hybrid Zimbabwean-Welsh resident, the integration of cultural traditions advocates for unity and growth. The creative expression within this collective journey nurtures connection with our Ancestors, nature, gratitude, and remembrance.
Current focus is on building a long-term creative leadership practice that brings together Black intergenerational experience, political awareness, care, and cultural production. This includes curating cross-cultural programmes, shaping creative education models, and connecting local work with international movement — from Newport to Harare, from healing to legacy.
