About
After spending time in her teenage years working with horses and camels in Spain and Austria, Shelley returned to the UK to train as a saddle maker.
Whilst gaining her Level 3 City & Guilds Diploma in Saddle, Harness and Bridle making in 2014, she started specialising in saddlery and leatherwork for the film and TV industry.
Having already worked on a large number of feature films, in 2021 Shelley founded Battle Horse Ltd to meet demands for specialist saddlery and leatherwork for the film & TV industry.
In 2023, Shelley lead the industry's first Saddlery Department, on Ridley Scott's Gladiator II, where she recruited and managed a team of 20 saddlers, leatherworkers, drapes and breakdown artists, whilst outsourcing work to a network of creatives and companies across the UK.
Shelley is a SMS qualified saddler and continuously strives to expand her skillset and knowledge as a craftswoman by exploring different historic crafts such as armoury, repoussé and tree-making.
