About WMC/Our Department:
Wales Millennium Centre is a creative home for everyone. We fire imaginations by welcoming world-class shows, events and experiences to Wales - from critically acclaimed musical theatre, comedy and dance to intimate, ground-breaking cabaret.
As part of the Arts and Creative team you will get to be part of some magical work. From our pioneering youth led studios, to our work with immersive technology we want to find ways for artists, young people and communities to tell their stories in the ways they want to.
About the Role and Responsibilities:
We are looking for someone who shares our vision and passion for our Cabaret venue, a platform for showcasing new art forms, building communities, encouraging experimentation and nurturing local and emerging artists. We’re committed to curating a distinctive programme that encourages curiosity, welcomes everyone, challenges the status quo and provokes new ways of thinking.
You will need experience and ambition to curate, plan and deliver a diverse and inclusive, financially responsible programme including work with artists, young people and communities and commercial hires. Working across the organisation you will engage with all departments to sustain the best quality of experience for artists and audiences.
Key Requirements:
You will need experience of programming and managing events at this scale and relevant to this venue as well as experience of working with a wide range of artists.
An understanding of audience development and evidence of building community is important, in particular great interpersonal skills and communication.
You will also need an understanding and experience of how venues work and a commitment to the programme of work, including the need to work unsociable hours, evenings and weekends where needed for the role.
