Creative Cardiff Classrooms are a new series of events which allow creatives to dive deeper into a specific theme in small group workshops with an experienced facilitator. Subsidised by Creative Cardiff, all Classroom events are just £10 to attend.

This May sees the return of Hay Festival, the UK's largest literature festival, taking place in Hay-on-Wye, a town in Powys. To mark the festival and to align with Creative Cardiff's theme for May (finance, funding and fundraising), we've organised a Creative Cardiff Classroom to explore professional practice and publishing in literature.

This is an exclusive one-day writing and publishing workshop for writers who have already started their writing journey. You do not need to have previously published work to attend.

In this workshop we will have fun exploring how to develop your writing and how to approach publishers and agents with your work. We will also play with the toolbox any writer needs: story, structure, dialogue and setting. The day will be supportive, productive, creative, and fun. You will be given the space to fall in love with your writing again and to think about the next steps!

Tiffany Murray’s memoir, My Family and Other Rock Stars was a 2024 Book of the Year in the Sunday Times, the Times, the Guardian and the Mail. Her novels Diamond Star HaloHappy Accidents and Sugar Hall, have variously been shortlisted for the Wodehouse Bollinger Prize and received the Roger Deakin Award for nature writing. Tiffany runs Hay Festival’s Writers at Work, she has been a Hay Festival Fellow, a Fulbright scholar, and a Senior Lecturer. Her series, ‘Hulda’s Café’ is available on BBC Radio 4.
