This position will normally be based at the Taliesin Arts Centre on the Singleton Campus, with travel between our two campuses, and nationally and internationally, as required. 

The Venue and Operations Manager at Swansea University is responsible for supporting and contributing to institution- and region-wide cultural and arts activities through the operational leadership of Taliesin and the wider University cultural infrastructure. 

The Venue and Operations Manager joins the University at an important time of change as we embark on the implementation of our new Business Plan (2021 – 2024) and develop the strategy for a wider arts and culture programme at the University.

The postholder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational leadership and development of the venue’s visitor operations, ensuring that the Centre is an attractive, safe, secure and sustainable environment for visitors, customers and employees and to be accountable for the effective day-to-day operation, management and administration of the facilities.

We work closely and collaboratively with arts networks across the UK, and especially with the Arts Council Wales, Swansea Council and Neath Port Talbot Council, to develop and deliver high-quality arts programmes that reflect the changing needs of our audiences. 

We value close collaboration with the students, staff and researchers, of the University, as well as widely across the region, in developing audiences and artistic talent.

This role is a member of the Taliesin Senior Management Team and as such will deputise for and represent the Head of Commercial as required.  The roles sits within the wider Campus and Commercial Services team.

Experience

  • Significant evidence of venue and infrastructure management in an arts setting including visitor experience, administration, facilities management, health & safety and technical delivery.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading, managing and motivating a diverse team.
  • Experience of developing, implementing and reviewing systems, processes and policies.
  • Experience of leading change and supporting teams through change.
  • Experience of developing successful plans for income diversification and/or fundraising
