About me
Hi, I’m Jess and I’m currently studying for a BA (Hons) English Literature degree at Cardiff University. Growing up, music was my pathway into the creative world. From playing the flute and piano, making music videos with friends to singing with the CBSO Children’s and Youth Choruses in the Symphony Hall, I enjoyed every aspect of music during my childhood and teenage years.
With a strong musical background, I came to Cardiff eager to explore my creativity further – and I have definitely found my place within student media. I am currently learning the ropes as a Co-Presenter on my own Xpress Radio show and I have written for The Cardiff Tab and The South Wales Argus.

My role at Creative Cardiff
As Creative Cardiff’s Engagement and Comms Assistant, I’m supporting the team on their 10th Anniversary campaign and helping with preparations for their celebratory event later this year. I will also be supporting with event management, creating content for their social media and writing articles. I’m really excited to learn more about the creative economy in Wales, network with professionals and build new skills throughout this placement.
My career aspirations
I will be graduating university in 2026, and I would love to remain in Cardiff and find my place within the creative sector. My interests lie in radio, podcasting, and journalism, and I am excited to keep developing my skill set and discovering where my strengths lie. I believe my placement at Creative Cardiff will enable me to achieve this, as the network brings together a wide range of creative professionals, offering everyone to connect and collaborate. I’m looking forward to connecting with creative professionals across the city and gaining valuable industry knowledge and insight into their careers and experiences.
