About Creative Cardiff

Connected. Collaborative. Creative. Cardiff.

Creative Cardiff aims to make Cardiff and the region a connected, collaborative and inclusive capital of creativity.

Creative Cardiff was established in 2015 – with founding partners Cardiff Council, Wales Millennium Centre and BBC Cymru Wales – to network and amplify the creative economy in the city and shape Cardiff’s narrative as a thriving and innovative creative capital.

In the last decade, the Creative Cardiff network has fostered better connection, collaboration and understanding of Cardiff’s creative economy through various of activities and interventions in the city and across the wider region.

Connected

Creative Cardiff connects creatives from a range of sectors and disciplines, both online and in-person.

This work includes:

  • Delivering an inclusive programme of events and engagement activities where creatives can make new connections and network with existing connections
  • Ensuring that Creative Cardiff’s audiences have opportunities to build up these relationships with each other, particularly cross-sectorial and interdisciplinary
  • Creating opportunities for freelancers, artists, businesses and emerging creative practitioners to engage with Creative Cardiff in a meaningful way
  • Activities that build new connections, and help to convene new creative communities, including outside of the city

Collaborative

A collaborative sector is a more innovative, resilient one and we strive to create opportunities for collaboration across the creative industries.

Additionally, we collaborate with industry, business, government and academia to encourage new ideas which could support and grow the sector.

This includes:

  • Research activities to map and better understand the sector in our region
  • Connecting, sharing and collaborating with other creative networks and clusters both within Wales, the UK and internationally
  • Delivering projects in partnership with businesses, government, industry and academia to amplify and support the creative economy in our region
  • Working in partnership with our further and higher education institutions in the city and region to provide enhanced opportunities for emerging and future creatives

  • Promoting the city and region’s creative might across Wales, the UK and internationally
  • Promoting the creatives and creative businesses who work in the city, telling their story, promoting their events, opportunities and news
