The aim of the week is to bring together local communities in celebration of the independent venues on their doorstep, and to bring new faces to venues that they have never visited before. These venues provide artists a space to share their craft, as well as giving audiences a place to discover new and emerging talent.
Independent Venue Week is visiting Wales for 6 days next month and has 19 shows planned. The shows are taking place at 6 venues across Wales and showcase a wide range of talent from a diverse group of creatives. The Welsh venues that are being celebrated this year will include:
- Cardiff – The Gate, Tiny Rebel and Norwegian Church
- Swansea - Tŷ Tawe
- Merthyr Tydfil – The Scala
- Carmarthen - CWRW
- Pembrokeshire – The Grain
- Wrexham – The Rockin’ Chair
Partnering with #IVW24 are Creative Wales, BBC Radio 6, BBC Music Introducing, and many more cultural organisations across the UK.

Before L E M F R E C K’s performance, Independent Venues Community is hosting a Soundcheck Session. Soundcheck Sessions offer young people (age 14+) the chance to come to a venue before doors, to watch the artist soundcheck and then have Q&A with them along with some of the crew and venue team.
