About WMC/Our Department:

The Head of Commercial is a new role within Wales Millennium Centre reporting into the Chief Commercial Officer.You will be responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic partnerships, and aligning commercial strategies with overall company goals.This role is pivotal for the organization's growth and sustainability, directly impacting financial performance and market positioning.

You will lead the ongoing commercial transformation across the wider organisation, challenging the status quo, building effective relationships both internally and externally to achieve the desired change. You will collaborate effectively with the commercial departments of Fundraising, Customer Operations and Digital Services to deliver the commercial strategy as well as the wider organisation.

About the Role and Responsibilities:

  • You will identify new business opportunities, partnerships and sponsorships to maximize revenue streams and enhance market positioning. Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, suppliers and sponsors for current and potential sites.
  • Working with the Chief Commercial Officer, you will embed the new commercial operating model, building in milestones by which to measure success and drive further development.
  • You will oversee budgeting, financial planning, and performance analysis to ensure sustainable profitability and effective resource allocation. Measuring the success and impact of commercial initiatives.Delivering measurable Return on Investment for partners to encourage renewals and growth.
  • You will develop and implement strategies to enhance income through commercial activities such as selling of services and corporate partnerships.
  • You will research and conduct market analysis to identify new business opportunities, evaluating the feasibility of new projects and assessing their impact on WMC strategic vision.

Your role may be subject to a DBS check.

Key Requirements:

  • Candidates will have a proven track record in a commercial leadership role, with experience in driving revenue growth and managing commercial partnerships.
  • You will have effective negotiation skills.
  • You will have demonstrable experience of developing and implementing effective commercial strategies in a customer facing environment
  • You will have strong experience of developing new and innovative ideas for income diversification.
  • You will possess sound financial acumen and effective budget management experience.
