Location: We’re happy to support flexible working – both through hybrid working and your working pattern. You just need to be able to attend key meetings on a Tuesday with the rest of the Digital Content team and deliver the responsibilities of the role (some of which are venue-based).
Plus, some evening and weekend work required, when Big Screen events are on.

About the role
You'll co-manage the Digital Content team, with the Digital Producer (Planetarium) which combines the Big Screen, Planetarium and our online digital content hub - Curious Stuff.
You’ll be curating and producing meaningful and engaging digital playlists, for our outdoor Big Screen, collaborating with local organisations and community groups, such as the Wildscreen Festival and Room 13.
You’ll get to produce and manage a series of Big Screen events from feature films, to live streams and cultural events.
You’ll oversee the content creation of videos and articles for our Curious Stuff online pages and help to seek ways to include everyone to be curious and inspired by science.
You'll work collaboratively cross-departmentally and support the development of new Planetarium shows, when required.
We sit within the Programming team which also includes our Public Programme, Education and Open Source Science teams. You’ll also be working closely with our Marketing, Venue Hire, Participation and Digital teams.
What will you do in this role?
Role specific responsibilities:
• Oversee the running of the Big Screen, including content curation, scheduling (via OneLan CMS) and project management; ensuring that content is audience appropriate and in line with programming needs. Sourcing content from our local community, so that our platforms are representative of the voices of the city and people who use our spaces.
• Responsible for managing and delivering Big Screen events, working closely with our Venue Hire team and collaborators. Licensing, testing content (e.g films, live streams and broadcasts) and managing public screenings on the day (with support).
• Liaise with the Digital team to ensure the Big Screen is well maintained, planning for updates and technical needs in a timely manner.
• Line management of the Video Content Creator.
• Support Planetarium content creation and curation (when required). Responsible for Planetarium programme delivery when needed (e.g. absence of other Digital Producer).
Shared with the other Digital Producer:
• Manage relevant budgets, reporting to Head of Programming and the Finance team
• Responsibility for creating and managing timelines and deadlines to keep teams on track, organising project meetings and keeping track of progress.
• Explore, develop and deliver activities that allow for collaborative digital content and offer opportunities for under-represented audiences to participate.
• Increase audience participation, development opportunities and co-design digital content within the programme, including bringing researchers and the public together where possible.
• Contribute to strategy and planning for future programme seasons, coming up with new ideas for themes and content. Liaise with the Marketing team on upcoming activity and longer-term strategic planning, ensuring full marketing and promotion.
• Plan and deliver a programme that helps to generate income, seeking new opportunities where possible. Develop relationships with key digital media, technology, film and research partners to identify new strands of content, increase contributors, create partnerships and explore new opportunities.

• Due to the responsibilities of this role, you may be required to complete an enhanced DBS check.
• Ensure highest quality visitor experiences.
• Support the rest of the Programming team with projects when required.
• Ensure the programme reflects our commitment to being a carbon net zero organisation by 2030 and inspires audiences to take positive action.
What we're looking for from you
• You’ll be an experienced creative Producer, with a proven track record of producing within a cultural venue or as a freelancer.
• Experience of curating or producing festivals and events, across a variety of online and in-person platforms.
• Experience of working collaboratively; internally across departments and with external partners including community groups, researchers and other organisations.
• Experience of working with video and video content creators.
• You’ll be naturally organised and methodical with the ability to work accurately and independently.
• You’ll be proficient at working to tight deadlines with the ability to plan, organise and prioritise workloads.
• A natural leader - you bring out the best in people with a proven track record of leading project teams or line management. You motivate, inspire and empower your team and nurture the people you manage.
• You’re passionate about high quality visitor experiences collaborating with and creating programming for a broad range of audiences.
• Evaluation sits hand-in-hand with everything you do. You use it to develop professionally, test out your programmes, support the team and iterate or innovate accordingly.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner in writing and confident expressing your creative ideas.
• You’ll have a high level of IT literacy and be confident in troubleshooting a range of hardware and software issues.
