Wales Millennium Centre has been significantly impacted by the Coronavirus pandemic, having to shut its doors in March 2020.  Our building remains shut, but we are hopeful that we will reopen in the not too distant future and be able to generate commercial revenues once more.  We have received emergency funding to help us survive this crisis, and help us to deliver on our objectives, despite the lack of any commercial revenue.

Whilst the impact of the Coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the closure of our theatre and building, we are working hard behind closed doors to keep the arts alive.

WMC is a home for the arts in Wales, and a cauldron of creativity for the nation. We fire imaginations by curating world-class, critically-acclaimed touring productions, from musical theatre and comedy to dance, cabaret and an international festival. We kindle emerging talents with fresh, provocative and popular pieces of our own, rooted in Welsh culture. And we ignite a passion for the arts in young people with life-changing learning experiences and chances to shine in the spotlight.

We’re looking for a Community Engagement Assistant Producer to support the delivery of the Community Engagement Programme at WMC working alongside the Senior Community Engagement Producer to make sure communities are engaged, able to communicate with us and are able to have a voice in the work that we are establishing.

The role will focus on giving and projecting the voices of communities with a specific focus of those underrepresented in the arts. You will specifically support the delivery of events and activities in our Public Spaces working towards our Voices of Change Exhibition, a lantern parade and preparing for reopening the Centre later on in 2021.

The role will also support with increasing volunteering, the development of our community garden and building in time banking to the work at the Centre.

The role will support with the delivery of our four main objectives – create innovative work that showcases Wales to the world, increase access to the arts for all, raise aspirations of every young person in Wales and present the Centre as a world leading arts organisation.

The post holder will be expected to work alongside the wider Arts and Creative team and across the whole business, connecting community members to opportunities that exist.

The post holder will make sure that the work we develop is representative of the communities we serve. It will support new voices to get involved and have a say about how work is developed at the Centre.

This role will report to the Senior Community Engagement Producer.
