Nestled in the heart of Caerphilly and overlooking the castle, Y Banc is a newly transformed, accessible creative hub designed to spark community spirit through a vibrant range of events. With everything from cinema screenings to live music, Cynefin Caerffili has shaped Y Banc into a welcoming space where people of all ages can explore creative pursuits and enjoy the talent that thrives in their local area.

Y Banc’s creative energy and impressive location made it the perfect setting for Creative Cardiff’s first-ever Caerphilly Creative Cuppa, a relaxed and welcoming event that brought local creatives together for conversation, collaboration and connection.
We were delighted to welcome guest speaker Bethan Davies of Joy House Creations, a local creative who delivers craft workshops at her space in Ffos. In line with Creative Cardiff’s July theme of managing events, Bethan shared her insights on how to successfully run local workshops and spoke powerfully about the importance of in-person connection, something especially vital in an increasingly digital world:
To me it doesn’t really matter too much what exactly we’re learning or practising, but that we are creating, together.
Her talk sparked a lively Q&A and set the tone for a meaningful networking session that followed. While enjoying plenty of tea, coffee and cake, creatives from across Caerphilly came together to share experiences, connect with like-minded people and support one another in their creative endeavours.
Creative Cardiff's Manager, Carys Bradley-Roberts, said:
A key focus for us over recent years, especially after our Creative Industries Cluster Hubs projects in Newport, Monmouthshire and Rhondda Cynon Taf, is widening our engagement activities to communities outside of Cardiff and across the wider region. In July, we had the pleasure of hosting two events outside the city - in Barry and in Caerphilly, bringing local creatives together for connection and collaboration in partnership with a community space.
Y Banc was a fantastic venue for our first Caerphilly event, with Cynefin Caerffili's exciting ambitions to bring local communities together by fostering a welcoming, positive and creative space. We can't wait to see what's next for them and for Caerphilly!

Our first Caerphilly Creative Cuppa reminded us of the incredible value of these gatherings and we’re excited to continue building creative connections across communities!
