Freelance Game Development Tutor (Post-16 Education)
Location: Cardiff | Rate: £132–£150/day | Start Date: Immediate

Media Academy Cymru (MAC) is seeking a passionate and experienced Game Development Tutor to join our dynamic education and training team. If you thrive in hands-on teaching environments, love inspiring young people, and have expertise in game development, this could be the perfect role for you.

We deliver BTEC courses at Levels 1-3 to post-16 learners, with a strong emphasis on creativity, wellbeing, and inclusive education. Our learners are diverse, talented, and full of potential - and we’re looking for someone who can help them unlock it.

About the Role

As a freelance tutor, you’ll play a key part in shaping the next generation of creative tech talent. You’ll deliver engaging, practical lessons in game development, support learners through their coursework, and contribute to a culture of inclusion and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver hands-on, creative lessons in game development
  • Plan, assess, and internally verify learners' coursework
  • Carry out regular wellbeing check-ins with students
  • Organise and support extracurricular learning activities
  • Deliver and assess Essential Skills Wales qualifications in Communication and Application of Number
  • Maintain accurate records and manage administrative tasks related to teaching

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a unique individual: someone who’s not only a creative and tech-savvy game developer, but also deeply committed to student wellbeing and inclusion.

You should have:

  • A teaching qualification, relevant experience, or a youth work qualification
  • Experience working with young people in educational or mentoring settings
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage admin alongside teaching
  • Availability to work term-time only, Monday – Wednesday 
  • A collaborative mindset and a passion for creative education

Bonus skills:

  • Mental Health First Aid
  • Experience supporting learners with additional learning needs (ALN)
