At Creative Cardiff, we host regular opportunities for creatives to come together for connection and collaboration through networking events, panels and socials. Since 2022, we’ve also hosted a range of ‘Creative Cardiff Classroom’ workshops, from pitching to public speaking to wreath-making to writing. These workshops provide an opportunity for creatives to deep dive into specific topics with a group of like-minded individuals.

Running alongside our Creative Cardiff Classroom events, we’re delighted to launch a new AMDANI pilot initiative (roughly translated from Cymraeg as 'GO FOR IT'), bringing artists, freelancers and businesses together to get creative and network in an informal environment, facilitated by an emerging creative. We’re delighted to announce that our first AMDANI series will be delivered in partnership with Cardiff University’s MA in Creative Writing.

Taking place monthly from February 2025, Creative Cardiff will host an open, free-to-attend Writing Group for creatives at Tramshed Tech, Cardiff. Each monthly Writing Group will be facilitated by a student currently studying for their MA in Creative Writing and will focus on a different topic, theme or genre.

Faciliator and theme for March

Annemarie Wattley is a multi-medium writer and current Creative Writing MA Student at Cardiff University. She specialises in fantasy novels, children's stories and play writing. Previously a BA student of politics, Annemarie came to Cardiff as a conversion student unable to deny her love of writing. She is on the very beginning of her writing journey and would love to share what she has learnt with others. She is passionate about writing/ creating conversations that are relatable and realistic despite the setting, with a particular enjoyment of utilising comedy within this. When not writing, Annemarie can be found watching comedy programmes, strictly for research purposes...

In this workshop we will explore the importance of dialogue within prose. We will begin understanding what we recognise as traits of good dialogue and uncovering what can make dialogue appear weak. We will then learn different ways of tackling dialogue which utilises environmental and emotional factors to create an immersive and engaging body of text. Please bring along a notebook and pen.
