Creative Cardiff hosts a monthly gathering for artists, businesses and creative freelancers called 'Creative Cuppa'. These informal events will bring the creative community together for the all-important three Cs - connection, creativity and caffeine.

Join us for a chance to meet, connect and learn from other creatives, whether you're just starting out or have been working in the industry for decades. Each Creative Cuppa starts with a TED-style talk on a theme that is relevant across all creative sectors, followed by an informal hour to sit down, chat and eat cake! These are relaxed gatherings to meet other creatives and share opportunities.

Creative Cuppa June: Who's afraid of finance?

One of the most commons fears amongst business owners and creative entrepreneurs is finance. Who amongst us hasn’t let out an audible groan at mere mention of a cash flow forecast or profit and loss chart, and getting to grips with business numbers can seem challenging and intimidating. But, understanding your figures clearly is key to becoming more effective. If you can make confident decisions that drive profit and keep the cash flowing – something more important than ever in the creative sector especially – you’ll give yourself and your business a competitive edge.

But what does it actually take to become cash flow confident? What steps do we need to follow to make sure our finances run smoothly? And what do we do if they don't? Whether you're a start-up or creative freelancer, or an established business owner seeking to take more control over financial planning, join us at this Creative Cuppa as we ask ‘Who's afraid of finance?'.

This discussion will be facilitated by ‘The Numbers Coach’ Johnny Martin.

Johnny is an experienced finance director and author of ‘Understanding Your Business Finances’ who passionately explains and demystifies business numbers and jargon. He is a partner of the British Library’s Business & IP Centre and a Mentor at Royal College of Arts. His workshops have also been awarded ‘High Impact’ status by Global Entrepreneurship Week.

No prior expertise or experience is required to attend and benefit from this session. Johnny’s clear, no-nonsense approach is based on the core, jargon-free principle of finance: making a profit and having enough cash in the bank.
