Lighting Manager

The WNO Electrics Department supports three main stage repertory seasons per year as well a range of youth, development and digital events. You can expect to spend around 16 weeks a year on tour in the UK with occasional trips further afield. Recent venues have included the Dubai Opera House and the Janacek Festival Theatre in Brno, Czech Republic. The rest of your time will be spent in Cardiff either at Wales Millennium Centre (our rehearsal and performance home) or at our dedicated Electric Workshops.
What will be required of you?
The Lighting Manager and Lighting & AV Systems Manager will support the Head of Lighting, Sound and Video, helping to manage Electrics Department staff and leading on delegated projects.
As Lighting Manager, you will lead the lighting team on specific productions or events as delegated by the Head of Lighting Sound & Video. You will liaise with Lighting Designers and Production Managers throughout pre-production and rehearsal and will then relight the production on tour.
You will need to keep excellent records to facilitate future revivals. You will lead Get Ins, Focusing, Plotting & Get Outs for all types of Company Events, as required. You will also play a key role in departmental maintenance and planning.
What you will need to have?
You will have experience of leading technical teams in high pressure environments. You will have an excellent working knowledge of theatrical lighting practice, and specialist technical skills in using EOS based systems. You will also have a good working knowledge of lighting related power & data distribution as well knowledge of rigging, video and sound.
