The on-campus internships scheme offers a wide range of paid internship opportunities at Cardiff University. You must be an undergraduate Cardiff University student that is returning to their undergraduate studies in autumn 2023/24 to be eligible for these opportunities.
This year, Creative Cardiff will be hosting three internships between June - August. These placements are completed over 200 hours and are paid on an hourly rate of £11.18 + 12.07%.
Application deadline: 18 April 2023
This year, our internships will focus on three strands of work:
- Increase subscribers to Creative Cardiff’s fortnightly newsletter
- Research the Welsh language creative sector in Cardiff
- Mapping the creative industries in the Cardiff Capital Region
Last year, we worked with two internship students who focused on research and engagement campaigns. This is what they had to say about their placement experiences:
Devika Sunand, Marketing and Communications Assistant
I interned at Creative Cardiff as a Research Assistant last summer and it was a much-needed boost after university to set the base for my career. As a research assistant in a creative organisation, I was exposed to a variety of creative sectors; their work, their struggles especially post-covid and their role in elevating the overall creative economy! My work was focused on architecture and publishing industries, researching and drafting campaigns to grow these networks. I currently work as a Marketing and Communications Assistant, and the knowledge and skills I gained during my time at Creative Cardiff have been a huge bonus during my job hunt and further in my current role. To anyone thinking of applying for this internship, you are just a few steps from meeting a bunch of amazing people and a role that immerses you in the centre of creative economy.
Eszter Gurbicz, PR and Content Intern
This internship gave us the opportunity to truly get immersed in the Creative Cardiff team. I loved that I felt trusted to be creative and go ahead with my ideas through which I received all the support I needed to bring them to life. For example, I could create a social media campaign on my own, which doesn´t only look good on CV, but the process taught me skills which I use daily at my current job. Right now I work at a communications and PR agency, and I can say for sure that having done this internship which involved writing, interviews, research and content creation was a great stepping stone to my current role.
