Trust Officer

Welsh National Opera shares the power of live opera with audiences and communities across Wales and England – in theatres, in neighbourhoods and online.

We are currently seeking a Trust Officer to work with the Trusts & Statutory Manager to maximise income from trusts and foundations, to work with the Trusts & Statutory Manager to manage a portfolio of trusts and foundations ensuring growth through cultivation, nurturing existing contacts, developing new relationships, making appropriate application submissions and reporting effectively, achieve an agreed annual income target within the overall Trusts & Statutory target as agreed with the Trusts & Statutory Manager.

Some of the responsibilities that you will have include: 

  • Managing a wide and expanding portfolio of trusts and foundations ensuring growth through cultivation, exceptional donor care and effective reporting to achieve against established objectives and targets.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of WNO’s artistic programme in England and Wales in order to present a compelling case for support to trusts and foundations including for an expanding programme of Partnerships & Engagement work
  • Monitoring progress against plans and provide the Trusts & Statutory Manager with regular updates.
  • Working with the Research & Database Officer where appropriate to undertake prospect research to identify new prospects and determine solicitation plans as agreed with the Trusts & Statutory Manager.
  • Establishing good working relationships with WNO colleagues and departments to ensure all applications for support and follow up reports are implemented effectively and on time
  • Work closely with colleagues to arrange appropriate visits with supporters to projects, performances, receptions and events.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Ability to plan and prioritize workload by working to strict deadlines.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Confident communicator both written and verbal.
  • Works well as part of a team and can work on their own initiative.
  • Experience of research.
  • Excellent IT skills.
  • Ability and willingness to work outside of normal office hours and to attend WNO events on tour.
  • Commitment to WNO's values.
