Creative Cardiff and CAER Heritage will forge a partnership for the duration of 2021 to raise awareness of each other’s work and connect more creatives with both projects.
CAER Heritage was established in 2011 and is a collaboration between Action in Caerau and Ely (ACE), Cardiff University, local schools, residents, community groups and many others. The project focuses upon the research of one of the most impressive, but under-appreciated, heritage sites in Wales - Caerau Hillfort.
Creative Cardiff want to continue their work of engaging with, and giving a voice to, a wide range of creative voices from different communities in Cardiff.
CAER Heritage have successfully developed strong relationships between Ely and Caerau and the University. We recognise that our two projects are aligned in many of their core principles and values, including combining community and university expertise to strive for positive and practical results. Both projects also undertake creative activity as a means of bringing people together. We have recognised the potential to strengthen and profile the work of both projects by working together in a focused way across the course of one year.
Creative Cardiff project manager Vicki Sutton said: "We’re hugely inspired by the work of Dave and the team at CAER and we’re really looking forward to sparking new connections within the community of Caerau and Ely. We’ve got some exciting creative plans to coincide with the launch of the new CAER heritage community centre and we can’t wait to get started."

CAER Heritage has always been about showcasing the amazing talent that exists in the vibrant communities of Caerau and Ely - inspired by 6,000 years of their heritage. We are so excited to be working alongside the brilliant Creative Cardiff team in 2021. Together we will be creating new knowledge about the past, inspiring creativity in the present and also creating new opportunities for the future
