We are seeking to appoint Creative Practitioner/s to help deliver an original and Pupil Centred approach to a Lead Creative School project.

Nottage Primary School is in Porthcawl, Bridgend Local Authority, South Wales. This project is funded by Arts Council of Wales and is part of the Lead Creative Schools program. (https://arts.wales/creative-learning/about-creative-learning/lead-creative-schools-scheme)

The plan is to work with Year 3 to design, develop and create something, which can support the schools expanding Creative Learning provision in the ample outdoor space at Nottage Primary School. Although an outcome is expected the focus should be on developing the children’s creativity, whilst enhancing their knowledge of the wider world, oracy, numeracy, confidence and imaginative skills.

The school already have a bandstand, small pond and play equipment, but have a lot of empty outdoor space (Please see the photos). We intend to involve the active parent community to some degree in any landscaping, sourcing of materials and construction. The total budget is approximately £5000. As a rough guide we anticipate that total Creative Practitioner fees would be approximately £3750 and the materials budget would be approximately £1250. Creative Practitioner training from the Arts Council will be provided. A DBS check will be required, which will be paid for and processed by the Arts Council.

Meeting pupils, training and the development of a project plan will begin in the last week of term (14th December). The bulk of the project will run from the beginning of February through to half-term in the Summer (28th May). The deadline for applications is Monday 7th December 5pm and Interviews will be held on 10th December at Nottage Primary School.

Applicants should provide a covering letter addressing the following details:

  • Why this project is of interest to you,
  • Provide examples of previous projects,
  • Evidence of delivering projects to agreed budgets and timescales.
  • Demonstrate experience of working with Children,
  • Demonstrate an understanding of a Pupil Centred approach
  • Be located in / or can travel to South Wales,
