For the fourth year in a row, The Queer Emporium's WIP Season with some amazing queer comedians bringing previews of their shows to Cardiff! The third show will feature WIPs by creator of Time of the Week, Lorna Rose Treen, and June Tuesday!
Lorna Rose Treen is an award-winning character comedian, writer, actor and improviser from Redditch, but based in London. After a sell-out Edinburgh Fringe debut of character comedy show Skin Pigeon in 2023, she had two sell-out transfers to Soho Theatre. She stars in her self-written Radio 4 comedy series Time of the Week on BBC Radio 4, a surreal parody of women's news and current affairs shows. She can also be heard in Jazz Emu's The Sound of Us (BBC R4) and Katie Wix's Nora Meadows Week of Wellness (BBC R4). She can be seen in Channel 4's animation Goblin Solutions, ITV's The Emily Atack Show and the BBC Three's New Comedy Awards.
June Helen Tuesday is a toxic trans mess, and she’s trying to get away with it. Her parents don’t accept her, her friends have gone to prison, and she’s not turned into the sort of woman she wished she’d be.
This is a show about taking HRT from the gutter.
What is a WIP?
A WIP is work-in-progress, a show that comedians commonly do to try and figure out the structure and material of their show before they debut the final product (basically, a draft of their eventual show).
What is a WIP Season?
Every Thursday in June, two queer comedians will bring a WIP of their shows to The Queer Emporium! That's eight queer comedians throughout the month, hence the season! You can buy tickets for the individual events or if you buy tickets for all of the WIP shows, you'll receive a discount (also known as our Season Pass). To receive the discount, just add all four WIP Season events to your basket and it will be applied at the check out.
