Are you a storyteller who believes in the potential of arts, objects and stories from the past to enrich people’s lives? Are you an Early Career Researcher with skills in storytelling or Story analysis?

We are collaborating with several partner organisations to appoint nine Story Fellows with a passion for crafting, telling, and analysing stories, who can bring a strong mix of creativity, problem solving, and innovative thinking to this AHRC-funded research Programme run by The Story Society at Bath Spa University.

You will be based at the University of Nottingham and at the Host organisation Nottingham Castle, where you will work to find a creative solution to a problem that they think Story Skills can solve.

Nottingham Castle, a site with a rich and multifaceted history, is seeking a creative practitioner who can sensitively explore and reinterpret artworks or objects with complex and challenging histories.

The ideal candidate will be skilled at engaging public audiences and fostering meaningful dialogue, while navigating the nuances of narratives with care.

Your residency is based at Nottingham Castle and involves a blend of on-site and remote work, providing ample opportunities to engage deeply with both the castle and its collections, and to develop innovative storytelling approaches. Your endeavour will span 14 months. For the first 12, you’ll work (on balance) 2 days a week on your placement and 0.5 on independent and StoryArcs research and training. For the final 2 months, you’ll contribute directly to analysis and dissemination of the Story Skill Set with the central StoryArcs team.

This role offers significant potential to develop your research career and be part of a prestigious AHRC-funded Programme.
