The Student Futures Work Experience Team at Cardiff University can support you with a range of opportunities. Their two most popular opportunities are “learning and doing” style 'Insights' placements and paid Internships, both of which aim to bridge the gap between academic study and vocational experience. These opportunities allow students to apply the theory and skills gained during their degree to practical and professional work.
Our experience with Cardiff University’s Work Experience Team has been extremely positive and rewarding. We’ve not only been able to support a student in gaining valuable professional experience, but our team has also benefited from the fresh perspectives and enthusiasm that the student brought with her. It’s a truly mutually beneficial arrangement that we look forward to continuing in the future.

The Career Mentoring programme also gives students the chance to gain information, advice and insight into their preferred sector through being matched with a professional in that industry.
These opportunities assist the students in gaining invaluable skills, experience and knowledge of the working world. At the same time, employers gain the fresh perspective of students and can develop a strong talent pipeline for the future of their industry.
It’s important to access a pool of hidden talent and create a pipeline of talent for the future. It’s important that we expose students to our sector and opportunities to broaden their knowledge about what different opportunities we can offer them. We want to engage with local universities and the community, and this is the perfect way to do that.
