Creative Cardiff's 'Show & Tell' is a quarterly event that gives a platform to the exciting range of creative people and projects in the city. It brings together Cardiff’s creative community, from emerging talent to old hands, to hear about their current projects and ambitions. This edition shines a light on Cardiff's inspiring Welsh-speaking female creatives. 

Each of the speakers will give a 10-minute lightning talk. And they'll bring an object. The object might be the source of their inspiration, a tool of their trade or a comfort blanket. The speakers will share their work and explain the importance of the object they've brought along. 

Our Speakers: 

Heledd Watkins 

Heledd Watkins is a musician that plays the bass / synths and lead vocals for alt-pop band HMS Morris. After studiying at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama she played the bass for Emmy The Great, Chloe Howl and Paper Airplanes. After establishing the theatre company Bad Host Theatre Company she started HMS Morris as a side-project and it grew from there. They create eclectic, colourful and bilingual sounds. Recently she's presented Rockfield Sessions by the BBC fuding programme Horizons Cymru. The television programme showed Wales' up-and-coming musical talent performing at the iconic Rockfield Studios.

 

 

Hanna Jarman 

Hanna Jarman writes, directs and acts across film, television and theatre. Since graduating from Welsh College of Music and Drama in 2011, she's collaborated closely with companies like Not Too Tame Theatre to create theatre for everboydy. She contributed to a programme calle 'Y Labordy' that was supported by Ffilm Cymru Wales, S4C and Wales Arts Council and BFI.NETwork and she was mentored by the author, director and actor Desiree Akhavan (Appropriate Behaviour, The Miseducation of Cameron Post). Most recently Hanna has co-created a short-form bilingual tv series with her friend Mari Beard called Merched Parchus (Respectable Girls) for S4C. After finishing work with Theatr Genedlaethol in which she performed in Merched Caerdydd (Cardiff Girls), Hanna's looking forward to developing a variety of projects for televeision and radio with long-time friend and collaborator Mari Beard as well as working with bilingual theatre company Pluen this summer. 

 

Elan Evans 

Elan Evans works for Clwb Ifor Bach as a production assistant and gig organiser for Twrw. She organises Welsh language gigs in a variety of locations across Wales. Last year it was announced that Clwb Ifor Bach would be taking over the popular multi-location festival Gŵyl Sŵn, Elan books Welsh bands and works on the production side of the festival. She ocassionally presents for BBC Radio Cymru and Radio Cymru 2 and presents the music programme Ochr 1. Last year she presented the Music Awards night in Aberystwyth - Y Selar - and most recently has been organising workshops 'Merched yn gwneud miwsig' (girls making music) alongside the Welsh lang music festival Maes B with the intention of encouraging more girls in Wales to start bands and make music.
