Creative Cardiff Poster: Meg Hill

We recently announced a commission looking for eight artists to design a version of our logo, which answered the question 'What does Cardiff's creativity mean to you?'.

The eight eye-catching designs selected for this commission can be viewed on posters in key locations across Cardiff city centre. Find them all and share your favourite by using the hashtag #creativecardiff.

1. Tell us about yourself and your creative background

I'm Megan, a Welsh Illustrator based in Cardiff! I have been in the creative field since I was a child but professionally for about 3 years when I started at University of South Wales, where I study Illustration full time.

2. How would you describe your work?

It's hard to describe my style since I like to try a little of everything, but I would describe my most commonly used style as clean, simple and almost graphic design-like. I think I have achieved the opportunities I have so far because the simplicity of my style allows the designs to be easily understood but still without lacking in detail.

3. Tell us about your design for this commission

I knew straight away what my concept would be for this opportunity and that was to demonstrate the connection that artists have with Creative Cardiff. To make sure my design captured the public's attention I used a wide range of colour and texture. I wanted my design to reach out to all audiences in Cardiff and I think and hope I did just that!

4. What does Cardiff mean to you?

Cardiff feels special to me because it has offered many creative opportunities that I didn't think would come so easily. It has something for everyone and isn't shy of announcing it!
