Profile

I’m a writer and Film Scholar who originally hails from New Delhi, India. With a Masters of Fine Arts in Screenwriting from New York Film Academy, Los Angeles and another Masters of Arts in Cinema Studies from Tisch School of the Arts at New York University (NYU), I have worked extensively in the field of film and television, having written original feature screenplays and original TV pilots. I have undertaken various short film productions and transmedia projects, creating story universes, with the tale being told through various media platforms like comic books and web-series. I have also written coverage (screenplay analysis) for produced and un-produced scripts. Currently I am pursuing a PhD in Creative and Critical Writing from Cardiff University.

All my work blends my Indian sensibilities with global issues and deals with universal themes. I have a penchant to tackle gritty, real subjects that examine the darkest crevices of the human psyche and at another level, the contours of the ‘global’ society that we all exist in. Apart from holding an expertise on certain practical aspects of cinema, I have an established academic background in Cinema studies, helping me acquire a critical and theoretical understanding of the same. A synthesis of all these skills has equipped me with the necessary tools to approach and analyse film as layered texts which, like literature are grounded in historical, social, economic, national and international contexts.

As a creative professional, I have worked as a copywriter and a freelance advertising consultant for two separate brands for a multinational corporation. My work included cracking the basic concept and then build the same into a 360-degree campaign which included writing and directing TV commercials and a corporate film. All my work has made me realize that I have an entrenched passion for cinema. I am looking for the opportunity to further sharpen my skills, working with and learning from like minded people who have excelled in this business which I want to make a way of life. I would be an asset to any set up as I am driven purely by my need to create and help create good work.
