Profile

ArcadeCardiff is a not for profit, artist led Community Interest Company established in 2011. It presents regular exhibitions from its space in the Queens Arcade Shopping Centre in the heart of city. Over the past 7 years it has also worked 'off-site' running additional venues which like Arcadecardiff exhibition's space have mostly been vacant shop spaces in the Queens Arcade. Currently it manages a fluid project space entitled Three Doors Up.
While Arcadecardiff has a specific exhibition program, Three Doors Up offers a platform for artists and collectives to develop and grow, supporting the development of diverse cultural activity.
Our ethos is to support emerging and established artists not just in Visual Art but other creative practices. Arcadecardiff seeks to provide a space to try out, experiment and develop ideas and does not necessarily see itself as a traditional formal gallery but a place to allow artists to consider the possibilities of their practice.
Previously Arcadecardiff has presented as part of Cardiff Contemporary and has an exchange program with Nantes, France. The first Artist exchange took place in October 2017 with Millefeullies, Nantes. Arcadecardiff runs a 6 months Artists Residency from its Queens Arcade space followed by an exhibition in the main space.
Arcadecardiff's also manages artist's studios in Fairwater, Cardiff.
Currently through Three Doors Up we are providing support and space for Lumin Journal, working with CSAD facilitating exhibitions by students from a number of courses and providing a space for conference and dialogue including Groundwork Pro's Representation of the People Act talks series.
In January Arcadecardiff set up an Artist Associates Group where art students are invited to get involved in the running the gallery in exchange for mentoring and support with their practice.
Created by Morgen Hall and Rob Kennedy, Arcadecardiff has worked with over 500 artists to date.
What we do would not be possible without the support of Queens Arcade and the Arts Council of Wales and WAI.
