Creative Cardiff's 'Show & Tell' is a quarterly event that gives a platform to the exciting range of creative people and projects in the city. It brings together Cardiff’s creative community, from emerging talent to old hands, to hear about their current projects and ambitions.
Each of the speakers will give a 10-minute lightning talk. And they'll bring an object. The object might be the source of their inspiration, a tool of their trade or a comfort blanket.
The speakers will share their work and explain the importance of the object they've brought along.
James Smith - Head of Plimsoll Wales 
James began his career as a print journalist covering wildlife and conservation issues before becoming BBC Wildlife Magazine’s news editor. He then moved into television, making documentaries about badger culling and climate change for the BBC and working on the acclaimed anthropological series Tribe.
James was part of the BAFTA-winning team that made Amazon with Bruce Parry, and he series produced the follow-up series on the Arctic. He has made films in the Congo Basin and Alaska and has trekked with Kate Humble in the mountains of Afghanistan and Peru for BBC TWO. Before joining Plimsoll in 2015, James was working closer to home, overseeing Springwatch, Autumnwatch and Winterwatch.
As head of Plimsoll Wales, James is currently overseeing three series for the BBC. He’s also the creative lead on Plimsoll’s live projects and recently executive produced Earth Live and Yellowstone Live for National Geographic.
Kimberley Warner - Head of Creative Business, Ffilm Cymru Wales
Entering the industry through sales and distribution when digital release was still in its infancy, Kimberley quickly embraced new media and challenged the industry binaries of the time. As Head of Acquisitions at Journeyman Pictures, she helped to build their YouTube channel to Top Ten subscribed channel status and brought Ken Loach's back catalogue online for the first time. As Head of Acquisitions and Development at feature documentary distributor Mercury Media, Kimberley secured EU Media funding to build Joining The Docs - the world's first SVOD platform for documentaries - convincing The Independent to bundle subscription with their own new subscription model and encouraging filmmakers to start building their audiences online. Having worked with filmmakers of the calibre of Kim Longinotto, Franny Armstrong and James Moll, Kimberley turned her hand to creative producing. Her most recent project Claude Lanzmann: Spectres of the Shoah was Grierson, Cinema Eye Honors, IDA and Oscar-nominated in 2016.
As Head of Creative Business at Ffilm Cymru Wales, Kimberley leads on the strategy for the talent department, which has the Magnifier mindset of capitalising on the value of filmmaking across different IP, at its heart. As such, she oversees talent events and funding awards, and looks towards the future of Ffilm Cymru Wales as a challenger brand.
Professor Justin Lews & Professor Ruth McElroy - Clwstwr Creadigol 
Justin Lewis is Professor of Communication at the School of Journalism, Media and Culture at Cardiff University, formerly Head of School and University Dean of Research. He is founder and Academic Lead for the Centre for Community Journalism. Justin is currently Director of Clwstwr Creadigol, a multi-million pound R&D project promoting innovation and growth in the screen industries.
Ruth McElroy is Professor of Creative Industries at the University of South Wales and co-Director of Clwstwr Creadigol. She has more than 20 years’ experience teaching in higher education, and has published widely in her areas of research expertise in screen studies, media policy and cultural identity. Ruth is a member of the Institute of Welsh Affairs’ Media Policy group and of Ofcom’s Advisory Committee Wales. She has recently been appointed Chair-Elect of Ffilm Cymru.
