Child Protection Awareness Training Workshop

The Musicians' Unions is running a Child Protection Awareness Training workshop that aims to give any musician working with children or vulnerable adults the tools to feel confident regarding their safeguarding responsibilities. It will also provide valuable opportunities to learn about and discuss safe working practices for music teachers and gain insight into the types of children protection issue that can arise.

 This workshop aims to help you:

  • Understand child protection issues
  • Identify abuse
  • Recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse
  • Know what to do and where to get help if you suspect child abuse
  • Understand the relevant legislation and guidance
  • Protect yourself from allegations
  • Enhance your awareness of and encourage good practice

The workshop will last around two hours, with time to network as well as discuss child protection and other teaching or music industry issues. Light refreshments will be provided and the workshop is free for MU members and £5 for non-members. Participants will also receive a certificate confirming they have attended the training.
