In a new initiative called Radical Creatures, NTW are inviting Welsh women artists to submit extraordinary ideas for live performance. Specifically, we’re looking for an original idea that speaks insightfully of what it means to be a woman in Wales today.

As part of the process, shortlisted artists will be paired with industry professionals who will mentor them to help them develop their proposal. The winning idea will then become a fully staged production as part of NTW’s 10th birthday season in 2020.

“At NTW, we receive markedly fewer ideas submitted by women than men, and proposals from women are often more modest in scale and demand fewer resources. This, I know, does not speak of the reservoir of talent, passion and artistry out there.

I wanted to create Radical Creatures to invite Welsh women artists to be bold. It’s a process that I hope supports them to unleash their imagination, innovation and excellence, fearlessly, to trust us with their ideas and, with our support, build them into their greatest versions.

Please read on to find out what we’re looking for and what you need to do next. I can’t wait to hear from you.”
