NTW’s Located Residencies support the development of new performance ideas in Wales, while simultaneously enabling creative engagement with communities or locations across the country. Through these residencies artists experiment, take risks and explore their practice within a specific context. We are launching a call for new projects specifically located in the digital realm – with a connection to digital places and digital communities.

We are interested in the creative potential of the digital world to connect, immerse, inspire, engage and reach new communities. Through our (Digital) Located Residencies we want to:

  • Find new ideas that have the potential to be astounding digital projects,
  • Support early stage research and experimentation,
  • Support the application of new technologies in the context of performance making.

This is an opportunity for you to conceive, shape and test early ideas that incorporate digital approaches in order to create unique performance worlds. In your submission, we will be looking for examples of how you think this residency will push your artistic boundaries and/or have the potential to create change (for you, your practice, or anyone else you may be working with).

As ever, we particularly welcome submissions from artists who come from underrepresented groups (specifically artists from culturally diverse backgrounds, or artists with additional needs).

There are two levels of support available:

  • One full-fat residency: up to £5000 (idea development, research and development, testing)
  • And three skinny projects: up to £2000 (ideas development and research)

Both levels of support will need to include all fees and cover the cost of working space, travel, materials etc.

With all the selected projects, we would arrange a moment for the lead artists to share ideas/process with a local/online audience and members of NTW. We will expect to work closely with the selected artists to support the design of their residency although the artists will ultimately be responsible for the development and direction of the work.
