Discover the Voices of Wales is an exciting collaboration between the Wales Millennium Centre and Lexicon Learning. We are producing an exceptional cultural experience that will utilise advances in virtual reality and binaural sound recording to showcase the incredible musical and vocal talent thriving in contemporary Welsh culture.

From choirs to opera, folk to rock, spoken word and rap contests to chapel congregations; the VR experience will bring a powerfully emotive and immersive experience to thousands, showcasing the country’s rich musical tapestry.

We are looking for a highly organised, efficient and well-connected freelance project manager to help realise the project. The successful candidate will project manage the production of the VR experience, liaising between Lexicon Learning and Wales Millennium Centre to ensure the best footage is captured throughout 2018 and the project is delivered on time and to budget for launch in 2019.  The successful candidate will report in to the Head of Digital at Wales Millennium Centre.


This project will take place between February 2018 – January 2019

Days and hours of work are flexible. Hours to be agreed in line with demands that will ensure the projects successful completion.

Freelance contract: £15,000 for the project fee


Specialist Accountabilities:

  • To manage all aspects of the Voices of Wales VR project including finance and budget management, scheduling, production shoots, logistics, evaluation, communication and co-ordination
  • To organize production shoots on behalf of Lexicon Learning and deal with relevant contracts of artists and participants; ensuring participants deliver their contracted terms of engagement
  • In collaboration with the Festival of Voice team research and find relevant and diverse artists, musicians and vocal talent to include in the project; ensuring the production is capturing the breadth of Welsh talent
  • To liaise with Lexicon Learning on behalf of Wales Millennium Centre to ensure budget and timescales are kept to schedule and ensure steps are put in place to meet funding requirements.
  • To provide regular updates and report on progress of the project, liaising with colleagues in the marketing, development, arts and creative teams and wider business.
  • Support the Development Team with funding applications for further aspects of the project that may need required to market the VR experience to wider audiences
  • Explore touring and hosting opportunities with third-party venues, festivals and community locations.

  • To ensure the project delivers value for the Wales Millennium Centre
  • Ensure regular meetings and fortnightly updates are put in place with key stakeholders at Wales Millennium Centre
  • Ensure the project is widely accessible and speaks to and reflects a diverse audience
  • Ensure quality of production standards and contributors
  • Explore and support media, technology and touring partners with Lexicon Learning to ensure project receives wide reach
  • Ensure the project delivers against Wales Millennium Centre’s vision to Inspire our Nation, Impress the World
