Job Introduction

They should appreciate the technologies and systems which support BBC Wales production and transmission operations for TV and Radio. They will be required to work as a part of the engineering support team on current projects, dealing with operational support and faults.

They are required to repair faults quickly or to identify and implement alternative ways of providing programme requirements to overcome technical problems and maintain the continuity of work in the production area. In addition there may be occasions where you will be required to drive a pool/hire car to provide support at all/any BBC Wales sites/OBs where the individual holds a valid driving licence.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be experienced in supporting video Post-Production systems, non-linear editing clients such as Avid media composer and back end systems such as ISIS and Interplay, and in supporting audio Post Productions systems, such as digital audio workstations (Pro tools), mixing consoles and hardware used within the dubbing environment.  You will also have demonstrable experienced in supporting Apple Mac and editing software such as Final Cut Pro.

It is crucial you're customer focussed with an understanding and appreciation of the pressures facing programme makers.  Due to the nature of this role the successful applicant will be expected to work flexibly. This will include evenings, weekends, bank holidays or as required by the production schedule.

In order to ensure continuity of service, good communication skills both written and verbal are essential as you will need to ensure colleagues are able to pick up work that has been started but not completed. You will be pro-active and seek out opportunities to further your knowledge and skills where appropriate and seek guidance and training when required.

Welsh language skills are not necessary

Applications may be submitted in Welsh, and an application submitted in Welsh will not be treated less favourably than an application submitted in English.
