Marketing Manager

To support the University with the introduction and development of integrated, inspiring, targeted and timely communications plans which meet applicants’ needs at every stage of the application process.  A key member of the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences’ marketing team, you will also provide expert advice to staff in Academic Schools and provide oversight for the College’s market research and branding projects.

This post is full time and open ended. 

Salary: £40,523 - £46,924 (Grade 7) per annum.

Job Description

Key Duties

  • Working closely with the central University team, plan and deliver annual customer relationship management strategies for each of the College’s constituent Academic Schools, ensuring that all messaging is relevant and interesting to the various market segments. Oversee the implementation of these strategies, planning, coordinating, organising and delegating work, monitoring progress and intervening as required.
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on processes and procedures, including advertising, conversion and offer-holder day activities, to colleagues in Academic Schools, supporting them in the attainment of their recruitment targets.
  • Advise on the potential impact of the impact of introducing a marketing and customer relationship management system and the impact this will have on strategic developments and plans.
  • Use market research and advances in marketing practice to identify and target the emerging needs of potential applicants and to coordinate, develop and enhance conversion content.
  • Act as the College’s point of contact, and develop expertise in, the Competition and Marketing Authorities’ guidelines for Higher Education Institutions. Ensure that College Coursefinder content meets CMA guidelines.
  • Act as the College’s business partner to the University’s marketing hub, procuring services on behalf of the College’s constituent Academic Schools and working closely with colleagues in the hub on University projects.
  • Ensure that market research and market analysis are delivered to the College and its constituent Schools, proactively changing the delivery according to customer requirements.
  • Line manage and lead the College’s marketing staff and web team.
  • Collaborate with others to develop processes and procedures to be used across the College and its constituent Schools.

 General Duties

Essential Criteria (maximum of 10)

Qualifications and Education

Educated to degree level and possession of a Chartered Institute of Marketing Professional Diploma and/or significant experience in a marketing role. 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Substantial experience of managing a section consisting of one or more teams, planning workloads over an annual cycle of business
  • Substantial experience of working within marketing,
  • Ability to demonstrate expert professional knowledge within marketing, to be recognised as an authority in the field
  • Evidence of demonstrable knowledge of key advances within marketing
  • Ability to influence senior decisions about marketing that have a strategic impact
  • Evidence of ability to explore customers’ needs, adapt the service, and set customer expectations
  • Proven ability to develop networks in order to contribute to long term developments

Planning, Analysis and Problem solving

  • Evidence of ability to undertake high-quality research and to propose solutions to expansive problems using initiative and creativity
  • Evidence of ability to undertake and deliver specific projects and supervise short term project teams

Desirable Criteria (if appropriate)

  • Experience of working within a CRM context
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of key advances within CRM
  • Experience of working in a Higher Education environment
  • Fluency in Welsh, written and oral
