We are looking for a part-time Manager in Wales to support and represent our members in Wales.

Making Music is the UK association for leisure-time music, with a membership of over 3,500 music groups, comprising around 200,000 hobby musicians. We support members with practical services to help them run their groups, and with artistic development opportunities; we run meetings and events for them; we celebrate their achievements and speak on their behalf to partners and policy makers.

The Manager, Wales, delivers this work in Wales, and so we are looking for someone who is:

  • a good communicator (including at least some fluency in Welsh), in person and in writing
  • able to build and maintain good relationships with our 170 member groups in Wales (and grow that number)
  • experienced at setting up and running meetings and events, including performances (e.g. for Make Music Day each 21 June)
  • comfortable representing Making Music to a range of stakeholders, and able to develop and sustain partnerships with relevant organisations (e.g. Voluntary Arts Wales, Ty Cerdd, etc.)

This post is currently 1.5 days a week (10.5 hrs); these can be worked flexibly, by negotiation with the rest of the team and line manager. Work can be done from home (or if preferred a desk-sharing facility can be arranged). There is travel around Wales involved, as well as some evening and weekend work. Salary £30k pro rata (=£9k a year for 1.5 days per week).

We warmly welcome applications from all sectors of the community and all kinds of individuals, including from disabled candidates. Please let us know if you need this job information - or would like to apply for the job - in a different format.
