Communications Assistant
37 hours / full time
fixed term contract until 31 March 2018 (maternity cover)

£17,000 – £20,000 pro rata

Literature Wales is looking for an individual to join our team and help share our mission that literature belongs to everybody and can be found everywhere.

The Communications Assistant is responsible for supporting the delivery of the organisation’s Marketing and Communications Strategy.  This involves maintaining the organisation’s social media accounts as well as updating and editing the website. This role also provides support for some of Literature Wales’ initiatives and events. You will work closely with all departments within the organisation to ensure effective communication of the activities and initiatives delivered by Literature Wales and its partners.

Key duties include:

  • Maintaining English language social media accounts.
  • Updating and editing the Literature Wales website, English language.
  • Writing and editing copy, press releases and statements.
  • Supporting the Communications team with new and existing initiatives.
  • Any other tasks as required by the organisation.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following skills, experience, and personal qualities:

  • Excellent communication skills in English.
  • Experience of managing social media accounts and maintaining website content.
  • Experience of administration and marketing.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite (or similar).
  • A full driving licence and access to a car.
  • A positive attitude towards the Welsh language and a willingness to learn.

The Communications Assistant will work from Literature Wales’ office at the Wales Millennium Centre at Cardiff Bay.

This is fixed term contract until 31 March 2018 and will ideally start on Monday 2 October 2017.
