Diffusion: Cardiff International Festival of Photography is a biennial month-long international festival of photography taking place in Cardiff, Wales' capital city. The festival is initiated and delivered by Ffotogallery in collaboration with a wide range of local, national and international partners and supporters. Diffusion 2019's theme is Sound+Vision .The festival explores the relationship between sound, photography and lens-based media, and how in contemporary visual culture the transmission, presentation and reading of images is influenced by sound, and likewise how music is experienced visually as well as aurally. From virtual reality to 360 degree immersive cinema, light projections to digital installations and instagram-sourced exhibitions, Diffusion 2019 will be pushing the boundaries of photography and lens-based media. Now in its fourth biennial edition, Diffusion 2019 features a month long programme of exhibitions, interventions, screenings, performances, events and celebrations in both physical and virtual spaces and places. The success of the previous editions of the festival would not have been possible without the help and support of volunteers, so we are looking for enthusiastic people who are willing to give up their time and expertise to help plan and deliver this year’s festival. We have several volunteer areas to get involved in: • Delivering events, exhibitions and audience engagement • Installation/de-installation. • Photography/filming/editing. • Marketing and promotion, including print, web and social media • Supporting festival logistics and admin In return for your time, Ffotogallery will provide training and support in the form of professional advice and encouragement, socials and networking events, and work experience as part of the team delivering an international festival. There are no specific requirements for volunteering beside a passion for contemporary art and keenness to volunteer.

Timing of the opportunities: The festival will be on from the 1st of April until the 30th, however there will be need for volunteers to help with the preparations for the festival from March onwards and takedown in May. Hours: Hours are flexible and depend on what needs to be done and to fit people’s commitments, however generally volunteers do either a full day (11am - 5pm) or a half-day (11am -2pm or 2pm – 5pm) and during the opening events some evening work will be required. Expenses: We are keen that volunteers are not financially disadvantaged from working with us so we offer to reimburse volunteers with £5 per day for food and drink, plus daily travel costs up to the value of £10.
