OpenRoom

Want to get know our new Artistic Director Dan Jones? Because he wants to get to know you. Once again we are opening our door to Welsh and Wales-based actors for another round of open auditions. This time we are also looking to connect with creatives from across the theatrical disciplines through open meetings.

The Other Room was created for the theatre community of Cardiff, and having recently undergone some big changes we think it’s the right time to reacquaint ourselves with our neighbourhood and expand our pool of professional creatives. We want to get to know you better, so come on down, meet with Dan, ask him any questions you might have and show us what you’re about.

Welsh speaking performers and creatives are welcome to present their work through the Welsh language or bilingually.

OpenRoom Auditions

Our Open Auditions will be taking place on September 19 and 20. To make sure we get to meet as many of you as possible, we’ll be meeting you in pairs – so find yourself a partner to come and audition with.

We ask that you both prepare a five minute duologue and a two minute monologue each (which we may or may not have time for). We also ask that you stick to published works for both your duologue and monologues. Participants must be over the age of 18 and NOT in full-time education.

Opportunities to audition are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, so don’t hang about!

To arrange your audition please complete the form. Upon submission, you will be redirected and guided through the process of arranging a time slot.

All auditions will take place in The Other Room.

OpenRoom Meetings

Our Open meetings will take place all day on September 21. We welcome creatives from a wide range of disciplines, including: Directors, Producers, Writers, Stage Managers, Production Managers, Designers, Lighting Designers, Sound Designers, AV Designers, Illustrators/Animators, Storytellers, Choreographers, Movement Directors, Composers, Theatre Makers and many more.

We welcome samples of your work (e.g. visual or audio), but are more interested in you – hearing your thoughts, your experiences and your vision.

We ask that writers refrain from bringing full-length scripts; we are a small theatre and currently do not have the capacity administrate this.

Opportunities to meet with us are limited and will be allocated on a first come first serve basis, so get your submissions in quick.

To arrange your meeting please complete the form. Upon submission, you will be redirected and guided through the process of arranging a time slot.

All meetings will take place in The Other Room.
